Learn to code in just sixty minutes! That is what development firm Codecademy are saying you can accomplish with their new iOS app for iPhone and iPad.

What is Codecademy?

Codecademy is an education company. But not one in the way you might think. We’re committed to building the best learning experience inside and out, making Codecademy the best place for our team to learn, teach, and create the online learning experience of the future.

Before just a few weeks ago, Codecademy was solely available on their website, codecademy.com. But in December 2013, the development-teaching website released a mobile app for iOS products!

We launched our first iPhone app, Codecademy: Hour of Code, for anyone in the world to get started learning to code on the go. We’ve built an entirely new Codecademy experience for mobile that includes the same things that make Codecademy on the web great – interactivity, “snack” sized content, and fun lessons. Our first app gives you the basics of programming and should help absolutely anyone get started with programming – it’s almost too easy not to try!

They are giving amateur coders the ability to learn the basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, PHP, Python and APIs in just an hour, which is great for people who don’t necessarily have the time to trawl through books and guides on the ins and outs of code.

I downloaded the app on my iPhone 5, and it has a simple yet attractive layout. Instructions are easy to follow, and nothing looks particularly coding, especially for someone who just about knows how to align stuff in HTML.

If you’re a coding newbie like myself and which to pick up a few skills, I definitely recommend downloading the Codecademy iOS app – it’s free too!

That sounds really useful especially for me as I really find it hard to make time for me to learn how to code more. Unfortunately no iOS. Hopefully they release an android versions soon

I’ve used Codeacademy in the past, and I can actually say I learned quite a lot within the short time I was on it. It’s really cool to see how it’s gonna pan out for them now that they’ve gone mobile, but I would think it would be difficult for users to learn since something like this is done better on a larger screen.

I find this really neat, I really like the idea of a app that can help you learn coding in 1 hour.

I think I will be using this for sure.

I can now learn coding while on the go which is really cool.

I have always wanted to learn to code an app! It is great that they condensed it into an hour long tutorial. You can’t beat the price either! Do you know if they have it for Android?

I think this is pretty cool!

My friend wanted to download it but he couldn’t since he forgot to download iOS7 :P.

This is great! Now I can learn how to code on my iPhone! I can’t wait to download it. Are the tutorials easy? Thank you for sharing this!
